IPTS was conceived in 2006 primarily with pedagogic aim in mind. The inaugural International PACS Teleradiology Symposium, held in Bangalore, India, in April 2007, was a great success.

It includes a pre-symposium DICOM and HL7 workshop to be led by Mr Herman Oosterwijk, President of OTech Healthcare Solutions. Mr Oosterwijk has been successfully involved with PACS as a teacher, consultant, and engineering and business manager for over 20 years.

He has chaired the Technical and Regulatory Committee of the MEDPACS section of the National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA) and participated in the DICOM standardization effort as part of the working group VI, HL7 standard participating in the Imaging and Integration Special Interest Group and IHE for ophthalmology.

There will also be an excellent Keynote Address by Professor Lenny Tan, Professor of Diagnostic Radiology, University of Singapore and Emeritus Consultant of Diagnostic Imaging, National University Hospital (NUH).
